This is a good example of a distributed array for a multipurpose space.
The space is 100 feet wide by 60 feet deep with a 22 foot ceiling. The sound
coverage is seamless from front to back side to side. The listener
experiences excellent clarity of speech from any seat and rich full dynamic
sound from instruments and sound tracks.
The system uses 10 Electrovoice Sx100 two way speaker systems suspended
over the audience area plus, 4 single 18" extended sub bass speaker systems
flank the seating hidden above the suspended ceiling.
A feature of this room was the selection of split face block to control
flutter echo and excessive reverb. This was selected before the building was
built in the acoustical analysis phase so vitally important to a successful
sound system installation. Flutter echo is practically eliminated and the
reverb time in the room is around 1.3 seconds making music sound great while
not posing much of a problem for speech clarity. This is an excellent
sounding space! Go hear this room if you can. It'll be worth your effort if
you're considering this type of facility.
